Followed events

Followed events allow you to receive notifications when changed are made to events that you are interested in. They also allow you to construct a calendar of events that are particularly relevant to you.

Following events

You may only follow events which have been created by a subscriber to our diary product. You may follow an event by clicking the [ Follow ] link at the bottom of the event.

You will be automatically subscribed to an event if you respond to it in a positive manner, for example, if you say that you will be attending an event or might attend an event you will be automatically subscribed. If you are automatically subscribed to an event, text will be displayed informing you of this.

You can unfollow an event at any time by clicking on the [ Unfollow ] link at the bottom of the relevant event page or by using the [ Unfollow ] links on your followed events and saved searches page.

What does following an event do?

When you follow an event, you will be notified by email if the event is updated and it will appear in your personalised diary. There will be a delay of at least 10 minutes from the time the event was last edited and when you are notified by email to reduce the likelihood of receiving multiple emails in a short space of time. You can disable email notifications for subscribed events using the options on your account page.

RSS and iCalendar feeds are available for your followed events. The links for these are located on your followed events and saved searches. How these behave can be customised using the options on your account page and explanations of the effects of these options can be found here.
